Instead of writing this in third person like some agent or publicist wrote it, I’ll just tell you about myself from my point of view. I’m a friendly-type person so that just makes sense.
I was born and raised in Arizona. I am a second-generation member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. After living mostly in a rural area outside of the Phoenix Metro area, I spent a few years in Provo, first at BYU and then just living in a duplex by the Provo River with an amazing group of friends. I served a mission in Mexico–specifically the state of Chihuahua, in cities like Ciudad Juarez, Ciudad Chihuahua, Viejas Casas Grandes and Colonia Juarez. It was a wonderful eighteen months where two-thirds of my heart became Mexican, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. My testimony of the truthfulness of the principles taught in my Church is one of my most precious possessions.
The rest of my “precious possessions” consists of my children and husband. Not that I possess them, per se, but they are the treasure of my heart. I have a lot of stories about how I came to have my family, and our particular circumstances color much of my thinking about the world.
I was raised in a family where we stood, took our hats off, and put our hands over our hearts when the flag passed in a parade. There was a lot of Cub Scouting and Scouting, and a heavy dose of patriotism. My parents didn’t take anything from anyone, and spent most of their time, energy, and money in helping others. That has colored my worldview as well.
When I write, I think through what I am saying, but often I don’t bother to back it up with statistics or research–I write what makes sense to me and what feels right.
I am working on being more articulate and on getting all those solid researchy factoids to back up what I say–but for now, you get a regular ol’ person just trying to make sense of what is going on in the world. OR, you get a writer’s imagination if you are lucky enough to happen upon my middle-grade fantasy, young adult horror, space adventure, paranormal, or romantic writing. Hopefully whatever you discover on this site touches you positively in some way. As my tag line says, I am a wife, mother, citizen, author, child of God…… and all of that will bleed out onto the pages of this website, just for you.
